Black Mambas Project- 6th Part Series of The Proud Women of Africa
“My goal with Proud Women of Africa is to try and change the stereotypical image that the world has of women in Africa. The women I photograph have fought, survived, overcome or simply ignored the obstacles that life has thrown at them. They have dreams and they are tired of being seen as victims.
When I learnt of the existence of the Black Mambas I felt they were the perfect example of the spirit that I was trying to capture with my Proud Women of Africa project. The Mambas not only try to better their own futures, but also the future of of their communities, and of course South African wildlife. They embody, for me, exactly what a proud African woman is.”
